Special Education Related Services

  • Speech and Language Pathology
In a school setting, a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides, prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and therapy programs for students who demonstrate difficulties in language, articulation, voice, and fluency. In addition, SLP’s develop and implement IEP’s, collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals, participate in school-wide initiatives, and may supervise graduate students or participate in research project
  • Occupational Therapy
In the schools, Occupational therapists work as part of the educational team. Occupational therapists perform assessments to assist with determining a child’s needs and collaborate with other members of the student’s education team to help the child prepare for and perform school related tasks in order to effectively fulfill their role as students. ‘Occupational therapy works to ensure that a student can participate in the full breadth of school activities—from paying attention in class; concentrating on the task at hand; holding a pencil, musical instrument, or book in the easiest way; or just behaving appropriately in class’ (1). This can involve developing visual motor, visual perception, fine motor and/or sensory skills and/or modifying and adapting school environments to enable the student to have access.
  • Physical Therapy
