High School Band

Wind Ensemble

  • Rehearses every other day during period 1
  • Grades 9-12 but primarily upper classmen
  • Students must audition for entry
  • All brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments
  • Performs at Winter and Spring concerts, Spaghetti and Sonata, and several school and community performances
  • Recent repertoire includes: Superman Suite, Chorale and Shaker Dance, In Memoriam: Kristina, and Lightning Field

Symphonic Band

  • Rehearses every other day during period 1
  • Grades 9-12
  • Students do not audition for entry
  • All brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments
  • Performs at Winter and Spring concerts, Spaghetti and Sonata, and several school and community performances
  • Recent repertoire includes: Theme from Incredibles, Entrance of the Gladiators, Selections from Mary Poppins, and Funiculi Funicula

Jazz Band

  • Rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday 2:45-4:00 pm starting after Thanksgiving to May
  • Grades 9-12
  • Instrumentation includes: saxophones, trombones, trumpets, drum-set, piano, bass, and electric guitar
  • Students do not audition for entry
  • Perform at various festivals in the surrounding counties in the Cavalcade of Bands Circuit
  • Host annual jazz festival in March
  • Recent repertoire includes: La Suerte De Los Tontos, Bernie’s Tune, Danny Boy, and Hay Burner

Marching Band

  • Rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-9:00 pm during the fall
  • Rehearses throughout the summer and holds band camp in early August for 2 weeks
  • Grades 8-12
  • Students do not audition for entry
  • Instrumentation includes: Piccolo, clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, mellophone, baritone, tuba, drumline, and mallet/auxiliary percussion
  • Color Guard section consists of flags, rifles, and sabers
  • Performs at football games, parades, pep rallies, and regional competitive festivals throughout the fall
  • Recent honors include: 2015 Cavalcade of Bands Liberty A Champions, 2016 USBands Group III Open PA State Champions

Indoor Color Guard

  • Rehearses every Monday and Wednesday 6:00-9:00 pm starting in December through April
  • Grades 9-12
  • Students do not audition for entry
  • Performs at regional competitions in TIA and MAIN circuits on Saturdays
  • Recent honors include: 2015 Scholastic A Novice Champions, 2016 Intermediate Champions

Indoor Percussion Ensemble

  • Rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-9:00 pm starting in December through April
  • Grades 9-12
  • Students do not audition for entry but do audition for part assignment
  • Performs at regional competitions in the TIA circuit on Saturdays
  • Recent honors include: 2012 Scholastic Open Champions, 2014 Scholastic A Champions

Travel

  • The bands travel every 2 years on a rotating schedule (out of country, domestic)
  • 2017 trip to Canada – Quebec and Montreal April 8-15
  • Previous tours include Disney World and Ireland

Tri-M Music Honor Society

  • National honor society for student musicians
  • Sponsored by NAfME (National Association for Music Education)
  • More than 1800 chapters nationwide
  • New members inducted by recommendation by teachers
  • Service organization that helps with elementary and middle school concerts and other music events in the district
