Congratulations to six of our Boone Girl Scouts who were recognized at a recent School Board meeting for earning their Bronze Award! 🏅
Each Scout received a Special Recognition and Appreciation Certificate presented in honor of this outstanding achievement. The Bronze Award recognizes Girl Scouts who demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to making a difference in their communities.
Superintendent Mr. Voelker and School Board President Mrs. Olafson joined in celebrating these young leaders and their accomplishments.

🚌 National School Bus Safety Week: Know the Law!
With National School Bus Safety Week coming up this week, we want to take a moment to remind everyone of Pennsylvania’s school bus safety laws.
🛑 When must you STOP?
Vehicles traveling BEHIND a school bus must ALWAYS STOP when its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended, regardless of whether the road has one lane or multiple lanes.
Opposing traffic must also STOP unless the roadway is separated by a physical barrier (cement barrier, metal guardrail) or unpaved median (grassy area).
⚠️ When should you use caution?
When a physical barrier or unpaved median separates opposing traffic, drivers traveling in the opposite direction do not need to stop, but should remain alert and proceed with caution.

💙 Every Body Moves, Plays, and Belongs! 💙
Mrs. Deininger’s 4th grade class recently had an exciting opportunity to learn about prostheses and orthoses and how to support people who use them!
Students discovered how orthoses support existing limbs, while prostheses help people with limb loss or limb differences move and participate in everyday activities. They explored how prostheses are made, learned about their different functions, and got to see examples up close.
And their questions were fantastic! 🙌 Did you know the largest prosthetic our guest ever made was a leg for a man who was 7 feet, 4 inches tall? Students also learned about the most expensive prosthetic she ever made, which cost an incredible $150,000!
Through thoughtful questions and meaningful conversations, the class shared an important message: Even though we may move differently, movement and play are important to EVERY body!
This lesson also had a special connection to our classroom community, helping students better understand how prostheses can make a difference in someone's everyday life. Students brainstormed ways to advocate for and actively include friends who use prostheses and orthoses.

🔥🚒 Learning About Fire Safety! 🚒🔥
Our third graders had an important—and fun—lesson in fire safety this week! A big thank-you to our friends at Monarch and Amity Fire Companies for visiting and teaching our students about smoke detectors, fire equipment, and what to do in the event of a fire.
The students also learned that firefighters may look a little different when they’re dressed in all their protective gear! Mrs. Myers showed them that a firefighter’s uniform doesn’t have to be scary… and paraprofessional Mrs. Morris even joined in, striking a pose with her best ✌️ peace signs!
Thank you to our local firefighters for helping our students learn how to Stay Safe, Stay Aware, and Stay Prepared! ❤️🚒

Armed with PPE, paintbrushes, fluorescent spray paint, and plenty of hard work, members of Girl Scout Troop 1052 took on the challenge of giving the faded U.S. map on the Intermediate Center playground a much-needed makeover!
As part of their Bronze Award project, DBAMS 6th graders Brynn Rynkiewicz, Ava Keppen, and Alexandra Tilley, along with Emma Hofmanner of Commonwealth Charter Academy, rolled up their sleeves and transformed the playground space into a bright, colorful map for students to enjoy. 🇺🇸🗺️
A project like this takes a community! A special thank-you to ISC HVAC Inc. for donating the spray paint, tape, and PPE, and to Amity Township for providing cones to safely block off the area while the girls worked.
