The High School Student Government is hosting a non-perishable food item Food Drive this week, and we need YOUR help! Here's how it works: Elementary and Middle School: The grade that collects the most items will win a Movie Day! High School: For every five items you donate, you'll earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win some amazing prizes (see flyer below for details). Every donation helps, and together we can make a big impact in our own community. Donated items will be distributed to families in need right here in the Daniel Boone Area School District. Let's show some school spirit while coming together as a community! Drop off your donations in the collection boxes located in the main entrances of each school building. The Caron Treatment Centers will be hosting a virtual parent program called PREP—a free, one-hour session designed to help you navigate today’s challenges with youth substance use. The program will cover: ✅ Current youth substance use trends (like vaping) and the risks to your child’s developing brain and body ✅ How to have effective, open conversations about alcohol, nicotine, and other drugs with your kids ✅ The importance of setting clear rules and consequences around substance use at home ✅ Building resiliency factors to protect your child from substance use ✅ Local resources for support and treatment if needed Mark your calendars for the upcoming dates: 📅 December 17th 📅 January 20th 📅 February 13th 📅 March 21st 📅 April 14th This is a great opportunity to get the tools and resources you need to support your child in making healthy choices. 📲 Parents can register using the QR code or link on the flyer.

🕰️ Throwback Thursday: Birdsboro’s Original High School – The Washington Building 🕰️ Did you know that the original high school in Birdsboro was called the Washington Building? (Pictured in the 1st photo) Built in 1896, it stood proudly on W 2nd Street and served the community for over three decades. 🏫 In 1927, the “new” Birdsboro High School – the Roosevelt Building (pictured here in the 2nd photo taken in 1945) – was constructed between Adams and Jefferson Streets on W 3rd, right behind the Washington Building. The last photo shows students leaving the old Roosevelt Building heading down the hill to the newly constructed Birdsboro Elementary building. Sadly, the historic Washington Building was demolished in 1970, but its legacy lives on in the stories and memories of Birdsboro’s past. 📸✨ *photos and information courtesy of berksnostalgia.com*

We are so excited to celebrate Isaac Sherman, a junior at DBAHS, whose artwork was selected as the winner of the 2024 Christmas in Birdsboro Ornament Contest! 🌟 His beautiful design will be featured as the official ornament for this year’s festivities. 🎄✨ You can pick up Isaac’s ornament for yourself at the Birdsboro Community Center or during the Christmas in Birdsboro event on December 14th from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM! 🎁

Throwback Thursday 📚✨ Step back in time with us to the origins of the Daniel Boone Junior-Senior High School! These classic snapshots capture a newly finished science lab, classroom, auditorium, and gymnasium in our brand-new building circa mid-1960's. The story behind the school is as memorable as the building itself! The journey started in 1955 with the formation of a jointure between Amity, Union, and Birdsboro. Expansion plans were approved in 1960, and Birdsboro was chosen as the site. Construction kicked off in 1964, overcoming challenges like strikes, a flood, and even a hurricane! Despite these obstacles, our doors opened on September 7, 1966—although some areas like the auditorium, gym, and art and music rooms were still under construction. 🛠️ Finally, in the spring of 1967, the Daniel Boone Junior-Senior High School was dedicated, marking the completion of a vision that shaped our school community. 🏫🌟 #ThrowbackThursday #BooneProud #DanielBooneClassof1967
