Even though school isn’t in session today, we’re celebrating School Librarian Appreciation Day! 📚💙
Our school librarians do so much more than check out books. They spark curiosity, foster a love of reading, guide research, support classroom learning, and help students discover new worlds — one page at a time. From recommending the perfect book to teaching essential information literacy skills, they empower our students to think critically and dream big.
Thank you for all you do for our students! ✨

The Primary Center is currently in need of pants and shorts in sizes XS through XL for both boys and girls. Our nurse keeps extra clothing on hand for students who may need a change during the school day, and our supply is running low.
If you have any new or gently used items you would be willing to donate, please drop them off at the Primary Center main office.
Your support is greatly appreciated, and our nurse will be very thankful for your help in keeping our students comfortable and ready to learn! 💙

Brian’s expertise, guidance, and commitment have played an important role in supporting our district and community. We are truly appreciative of his contributions over the years.

With the increased use of e-bikes and scooters, it’s important for students and families to review basic safety guidelines before heading out. Please take a moment to look over the E-Bikes & Scooters Safety Guidelines poster to make sure everyone understands the rules for safe and responsible riding in our community.
Wearing a helmet, following traffic laws, and riding with awareness can help prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Thank you for helping us promote safe habits both in school and around town.

Students and staff at the Primary Center recently took on the challenge of sharing random acts of kindness throughout the building, and the results were amazing! From kind words to thoughtful gestures, our students showed how small acts can make a big difference.
One fun example comes from Miss Goudie’s class, who created a colorful and creative picture of Mr. Steinman, our Primary Center art teacher, spreading kindness like confetti! 🎨🎉
We are proud of our students for making our school a place where kindness grows every day.

We appreciate your patience as crews work to restore services. Please travel safely this morning.

Please travel safely and monitor district communications for any additional updates.

Representatives from the Penn State Master Gardeners visited all first grade classrooms at the Primary Center to teach students how to stay safe from harmful substances that may be found at home. As part of the lesson, students learned about the importance of the familiar Mr. Yuk symbol and how it helps remind us to stay away from poisons and unsafe materials.
Thank you to the Master Gardeners for sharing this important safety information with our students in a fun and engaging way!

Primary Center students had a wonderful time celebrating Read Across America Week with lots of stories, smiles, and special guests. During our annual Elementary Reading Day, students from the high school visited to share their love of reading by reading stories with our younger students.
The library was extra cozy for the occasion, complete with fun reading tents that made story time even more exciting. A big thank you to Primary Center parent Mrs. Kingsbury for helping create this special space for our students!
We love seeing our Blazers come together to share the joy of reading. 💙📖

Enjoy the long weekend...we’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday!

After graduating from Daniel Boone Area High School in 1979, Richie Bowden threw himself right into work.
Beginning in Mr. Bowden's early childhood, he would help out in his father’s auto mechanic garage. It was in these moments that Mr. Bowden’s father instilled in him the work ethic that he possesses today.
That way of life stuck with Mr. Bowden. At times, he worked two full-time jobs and another on the weekends, working up to 20 hours a day. Mr. Bowden described it as an “addiction” to making money; working was his fulfillment.
But then, one day, that changed. “God was calling me that I had to go into the community.” At first he was reluctant, but soon he realized: “How much is enough?”
Now, Mr. Bowden is profoundly involved in various community services. Using expertise crafted through decades of work, he helps fix and renovate houses with Mission Trip Birdsboro and Restoring Hope of Berks County. Mission Trip Birdsboro has grown to encompass seven different partnership organizations. Anyone can volunteer to help out, and there is even a prominent youth presence. 🔨
He also helps feed those in need with Hopewell Love Community Services and sings with Threefold Blessings, a traveling praise and worship team where he has used his gifts to honor God almost every Sunday.
Mr. Bowden said his heart was never in school, but it is evident that he possesses the exact skills that schools are designed to teach. Grades alone cannot change the world, but the impact Mr. Bowden has on the community certainly can.
Mr. Bowden also had a few words of advice for current high school students, “Stick with it.”
