On January 21, a group of our high school students traveled to Governor Mifflin to take part in the SOPA (Special Olympics Pennsylvania) E-Sports Try It Day!
Students competed and connected through fun activities including Mario Kart racing, Minecraft, board games, and bocce—all while cheering each other on.
The goal of the day was simple and powerful: to give students of all abilities the chance to compete, have fun, and experience e-sports in an inclusive and supportive environment alongside their friends.

Thank you, Ashley, for continuing to promote a culture of health and well-being throughout our school community!

Our high school Aevidum group hosted a Giving Tree event in December, and it was a wonderful success! Students and staff picked names from the tree and purchased items to donate to The Children’s Hospital, helping spread joy and kindness during the holiday season.
Pictured are student helpers Bria Getty and Annalise Yosko, along with Steve, owner of Collegeville Italian Bakery, and Marco Desiderio, high school science teacher and Aevidum advisor. Steve and Mr. Desiderio have proudly collaborated each Christmas to collect gifts and give back to our community.
We’re so proud of everyone who helped make this meaningful tradition possible! 💙

The second and final Unity Day at the high school took place on Thursday, January 8, bringing together students for a powerful, all-day experience focused on the theme: belonging.
This meaningful day was led by eight returning alumni who gave back by guiding conversations and activities:
• Erin Okuniewski
• Marlee Fetrow
• Hannah Huddleston
• Wil Gaskins
• Luke Armstrong
• Meghan Duffy
• Ethan Scott
• Lily Ferguson
Throughout the day, 9th–12th grade students, nominated by staff and faculty, engaged in thoughtful discussions and hands-on activities designed to build connection and understanding. Some favorite activities included:
🧶 Common Thread – discovering shared experiences through a simple ball of yarn
🥔 Potato Head – celebrating individuality while creating something that represented the group
🪨 Belonging Rocks – painting rocks to express identity and the idea that belonging rocks!
Thank you to our alumni leaders and students for making this final Unity Day such a memorable and impactful experience.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, our high school German and Spanish students visited the middle school to share their love of languages with 8th graders.
Through games and quick lessons, students tried out new words, spoke a little German and Spanish, and asked great questions about language classes and clubs at the high school.
It was a fun, hands-on experience that gave our middle schoolers a glimpse of what’s waiting for them in high school — and gave our high school students the opportunity to shine as leaders.

📸 Throwback Thursday: Birdsboro’s Second High School — The Roosevelt Building 🏫
Did you know that Birdsboro’s second high school had its own school song (pictured below)? 🎶
Built in 1927, the Roosevelt Building served as Birdsboro’s high school until 1955, when Amity, Union, and Birdsboro joined together. After that, it became the Daniel Boone Junior High School. The building was located just behind the original high school—the Washington Building—between Adams and Jefferson Streets on West 3rd Street.
Drop a comment if you remember this school song! 👇🎵
✨ Behind the Scenes: Our monthly Throwback Thursday posts are being created by our Communications Intern, senior Dan Shank. Dan enjoys research and interviews and is excited to hone his skills while working alongside our DB Communications Team.
