🏒 Exciting News for Daniel Boone Ice Hockey Players! 🏒 This past season, several of our Daniel Boone ice hockey players had the opportunity to play for the Northern Berks team in the CPIHL, representing our school during their varsity hockey season. They had an amazing year, and our Viola division made it far in the playoffs! 🎉 Looking ahead to the 2025 season, all Scholastic hockey clubs in Berks County are sending out surveys to gauge interest in playing next season. The CPIHL is working on redistricting to ensure future placement for all MS (5th grade and up) and HS players who want to get involved. Dedication Program and Open House Tuesday September 11, 1990 7:00 PM 400 West Second Street, Birdsboro, PA
The Mill Street School was razed in 1884 for the "right-of-way" of the Pennsylvania Railroad.  It was then replaced by a four room brick building on Cinder Street.  The Cinder Street School and the East First Street School remained in service until the Lincoln Elementary Building opened in 1912.  The Brooklyn School was enlarged and a second floor added to house classes for Birdsboro High School.  In these early times, teachers would signal the opening of the day's classes by the ringing of a small bell.  Many teachers were their own janitors, keeping the fire in winter, sweeping the floor, and cleaning the room.  Youngsters were permitted to attend sessions barefooted in late spring.  Children of Civil War Veterans, living outside the community, were given permission to attend classes at "no-charge".  Until the "free text book system" was adopted, pupils used slates. In winter time if the room temperature fell below forty-five degrees classes were dismissed for the day.
In 1956 pursuing a statewide pattern of consolidation, the school districts of Amity Township, Union Township, and Birdsboro formed the Daniel Boone Jointure.  The plan called for the Roosevelt Building to be used as a junior high unit; the Amity complex to remain as a senior high class area; and the Monocacy, Lincoln, and Washington Schools to continue as elementary centers.  The Roosevelt Building was renovated as an elementary unit.  A serious fire occurred at the Roosevelt School in August, 1966.  The two townships, Amity and Union, and Birdsboro became a unified school district in 1966.  The Roosevelt Building was razed in 1990 after students moved into the new Birdsboro Elementary Center, located on the same site.  Part of the tradition was preserved with installation of the Roosevelt tablets in the new building entrance which read "Enter to Learn" - "Go Forth to Serve"
