What a day for our Academic Challenge team! π§ π
Our students faced off against 2nd-ranked Kutztown in an intense match that ended in a tie, sending it into a sudden-death tiebreakerβwhere Daniel Boone came out on top!
They then advanced to the final round to compete against undefeated Wyomissing and Twin Valley. In another incredibly close match, Boone pulled ahead to secure the winβfinishing just 2 points above Wyomissing!
With this outstanding performance, our team has earned a spot at the State Competition on May 1st. We couldnβt be more proud of their hard work, teamwork, and determination.
Good luck at Statesβweβre cheering you on every step of the way!

Stay safe while riding! π²π΄
With the increased use of e-bikes and scooters, itβs important for students and families to review basic safety guidelines before heading out. Please take a moment to look over the E-Bikes & Scooters Safety Guidelines poster to make sure everyone understands the rules for safe and responsible riding in our community.
Wearing a helmet, following traffic laws, and riding with awareness can help prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Thank you for helping us promote safe habits both in school and around town.

π₯Άπ§ Freezinβ for a Reason at the High School! π§π₯Ά
Last week, teachers at Daniel Boone Area High School helped raise money for Freezinβ for a Reason β SOPA, and the results were both successful and entertaining!
Throughout the week, bottles were placed in the cafeteria for students and staff to donate spare change to the teacher of their choice. The teachers who collected the most donations were named the βwinnersββ¦ and their prize was having balloons filled with cold water popped over their heads!
The top-earning teachers were notified at the end of the week and took it all in stride, proving to be great sports for a great cause. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped support this fun fundraiser!

Our Alumni Spotlight series - created by communications intern Daniel Shank - continues with a story of hard work, purpose, and a commitment to serving others.
After graduating from Daniel Boone Area High School in 1979, Richie Bowden threw himself right into work.
Beginning in Mr. Bowden's early childhood, he would help out in his fatherβs auto mechanic garage. It was in these moments that Mr. Bowdenβs father instilled in him the work ethic that he possesses today.
That way of life stuck with Mr. Bowden. At times, he worked two full-time jobs and another on the weekends, working up to 20 hours a day. Mr. Bowden described it as an βaddictionβ to making money; working was his fulfillment.
But then, one day, that changed. βGod was calling me that I had to go into the community.β At first he was reluctant, but soon he realized: βHow much is enough?β
Now, Mr. Bowden is profoundly involved in various community services. Using expertise crafted through decades of work, he helps fix and renovate houses with Mission Trip Birdsboro and Restoring Hope of Berks County. Mission Trip Birdsboro has grown to encompass seven different partnership organizations. Anyone can volunteer to help out, and there is even a prominent youth presence. π¨
He also helps feed those in need with Hopewell Love Community Services and sings with Threefold Blessings, a traveling praise and worship team where he has used his gifts to honor God almost every Sunday.
Mr. Bowden said his heart was never in school, but it is evident that he possesses the exact skills that schools are designed to teach. Grades alone cannot change the world, but the impact Mr. Bowden has on the community certainly can.
Mr. Bowden also had a few words of advice for current high school students, βStick with it.β

π°οΈ Throwback Thursday: Future Business Leaders of America π°οΈ
In 1969, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter was established at Daniel Boone. FBLA was intended to give interested business students the opportunity to expand their abilities and gain experience in the business field.
Today, the organization includes nearly 200,000 high schoolers nationwide. At Daniel Boone, Miss Madison served as the clubβs first advisor 57 years ago, and today the chapter is led by Mr. Moulin. While much has changed over the years, the clubβs commitment to leadership, learning, and community service has remained unchanged.
Thanks to student intern, Daniel Shank, for creating this month's Throwback Thursday post!
