The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s South Central Regional Office (SCRO) has received an application from Pioneer Crossing Landfill for a major permit modification (Permit Application No. 100346). The existing facility, located at 727 Red Lane Road, Birdsboro, Exeter Township, rests on 320.3 acres, of which 219.0 acres encompass the permit area. This major permit modification application is seeking approval for an additional 69.3 acres of permit area of which 41.15 areas is proposed for future disposal area.
The DEP SCRO will be hosting a public meeting to provide a space for community members to learn more about the proposed facility and to ask questions to the Department and permit applicant. The meeting will be held as follows:

They can also submit them by email by sending them (with your name and email address) to dtuzzato@pa.gov Please include “Pioneer Crossing Landfill Comments and [Your Name]” in the subject line.
While the Department will accept comments for consideration at any point during the review, we would like to receive comments by 10/1/24 to be able to incorporate them into the environmental assessment and technical review.

DBAHS Student Recognition: Myah Derer
Myah Derer has earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award at the Gold Level with over 250 hours of service to her community in one year. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too. Myah’s service hours are from volunteering with Birdsboro-Union Fire Company, Girls Scouts, by mentoring a younger troop, volunteering with the American Legion, and other various things like shelving books at the library, and participating in Beautify Birdsboro. Congratulations, Myah!

DBAHS Student Recognition: Tyler Ferenz
Shout out to Tyler Ferenz for spending a week in Los Angeles, California as he represented DBAHS in the Environmental Engineering category at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). ISEF is the largest pre-college STEM science fair in the world. Tyler was among 1700 finalists from 67 countries. Tyler will be nominated into The Sigma Xi Scientific Research Honor Society of which 200 Nobel Prize winners and world renowned scientists have been members.
