π°οΈ Throwback Thursday: Birdsboroβs Original High School β The Washington Building π°οΈ
Did you know that the original high school in Birdsboro was called the Washington Building? (Pictured in the 1st photo) Built in 1896, it stood proudly on W 2nd Street and served the community for over three decades. π«
In 1927, the βnewβ Birdsboro High School β the Roosevelt Building (pictured here in the 2nd photo taken in 1945) β was constructed between Adams and Jefferson Streets on W 3rd, right behind the Washington Building.
The last photo shows students leaving the old Roosevelt Building heading down the hill to the newly constructed Birdsboro Elementary building.
Sadly, the historic Washington Building was demolished in 1970, but its legacy lives on in the stories and memories of Birdsboroβs past. πΈβ¨
